The Ruth S. Pugh Foundation

The Ruth S. Pugh Foundation, Inc. was created in 1998 to further the great efforts of Ruth Pugh. As one of the first special education teachers in Newberry County, her efforts extended beyond the classroom. Ruth Pugh encouraged community integration for people with disabilities and special needs. She supported people to be included in the community, recognizing that people with disabilities are people first.

As a 501 (c) 3 organization, the Ruth S. Pugh Foundation consists of nine board members and provides opportunities for people with disabilities and special needs to participate in the life of the community.

The Ruth S. Pugh Foundation works together with other organizations such as the Voices for PRIDE, self advocacy committee, and Partners for PRIDE to enhance supports to people in the community.

Fundraising Campaign

The Ruth S. Pugh Foundation is sponsoring a fundraising campaign through the Sally Foster Company. The campaign will continue through the end of June 2012. If you would like to view the available items, (including gift wrap, gift items, candy, holiday items, cookie dough, and coupon books) please visit the Sally Foster website at www.sallyfoster.com.  At checkout, enter your credit card information and click on “give credit to school or group” and then enter 925781 as the account number or enter Ruth S. Pugh Foundation in the group name.  The Ruth S. Pugh Foundation will be credited 40% from all orders placed. All orders of $50 or more will ship for free. All items will be shipped directly to your home or designated address.

Questions regarding products or ordering may be directed to Sally Foster’s Customer Service Department at 877-248-CARE.

Thank you for supporting this campaign. All proceeds will be used to support the activities and needs of the individuals served by Newberry DSN Board and the Ruth S. Pugh Foundation.  If you would like additional information regarding fundraising, please call 803-276-0078.

After Hours

Through the After Hours Program, opportunities for participation in the community are provided. People choose a support staff that will accompany them on outings such as shopping, dining, movies, or other recreation activities of their choice. The support staff provides transportation and other supports which the person may need.

Having an after hours program means people can independently plan outings of their choice, without depending on family for transportation and support.

Family Support

The Ruth S. Pugh Foundation supports family unity by providing one time funds to help families in time of need. These funds are used to assist in food, clothing and shelter needs.

Our Mission

To support People to Realize their Individual Dreams and Expectations.
