
Volunteers
Volunteering is a rewarding way to give back to your community. Our agency participates in a number of volunteer programs such as Meals on Wheels. We are in need of volunteers too. We are looking for caring people who would enjoy volunteering in one of our fun and rewarding programs. There are many ways you can get involved. Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to: arts and crafts, community outings, church, and gardening.

Training
The Newberry Disabilities and Special Needs Board offer a training program to meet the needs of the direct support professional and other professional staff. A
six (6) day pre-service orientation plus on-the-job training is held monthly (or more often as needed) for new hires. The pre-service curriculum provides the essential information need by the direct support professional to begin work and maintain State certification in the areas of health, safety and welfare
Training opportunities are available for all people to strengthen their knowledge of personal outcome measures, and other issues such as rights, abuse and confidentially
Curriculums emphasize the importance of people achieving what is important in their lives and the services and supports necessary to facilitate those outcomes.
